Demonetization had created debates all over. Some blamed PM Modi for not implementing the plan properly, while some praised him for such a wonderful move.
No doubt, people did face difficulties during the demonetization period, but after all, the main aim was to get hold of black money.
Well, you will praise PM Modi after reading the incident below. At a home in Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), banned notes worth Rs 100 crores were seized. When stacked up, they made a bed of cash.
The cash was huge and cartons, gunny bags and 5 big steel trucks were needed for the same. UP police and officials of RBI seized it.
Police officials started counting the cash at night and in the morning, it was around 97 crores, with some more left to be counted. First, the officials raided a hotel in Kanpur and arrested a few people. After questioning, the home of Anand Khatri (A Builder and businessman) was raided.
The cash that was seized was in notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000; a police official said, “I am told he is a businessman as a cover but is involved in these kinds of activities. He is the main conduit in the exchange of money. 16 people have been arrested. We were getting information that efforts are on to stack currency and exchange it in some manner.”
As per an NIA official, this cash belonged to 5 individuals or companies. Even negotiators who were going to get the notes exchanged are arrested.

Guess this is the biggest achievement of demonetization. 100 crores is indeed a huge amount.
